No Money, No Honey

Jackson and I both graduate with our Bachelor's degree in less than 3 weeks! We are so excited. I will be graduating in exercise physiology and he will be graduating in Accounting. I have been so blessed to marry someone who is great at managing their money. We have really nerdy conversations in our old "U" shaped apartment about how much money we have, where the money is going, and how we can reduce our costs as best we can. We love talking about all the different things we can do with our money.
There are so many resources out there that can help us to keep our finances in check. Since money is one of the major reasons for couples divorcing, I think finding and knowing about the resources available can make a big difference on how we manage our money. I have recently finished a book called "The 5 Lessons a Millionaire Taught Me." I have come to realize that when it comes to managing your finances, there aren't secrets that make someone more successful than another. I think what it really comes down to is self awareness and self control.
For married couples, it's all about working as a team. When I was younger I thought I would leave all the finances to my husband because he will know what to do and I will live blissfully in ignorance as to where our money is going. Now I can see how this can cause problems within a marriage. If one person is managing the finances, it can create a wedge in the marriage. When both partners are aware of where their money is going there is less blaming that happens and more cooperation. It also makes both husband and wife to be more willing to make changes together as a team. When a couple is putting all their money and resources together, it allows them to be one working unit.
Below I have posted a funny video and a little pamphlet by Marvin J. Ashton from the LDS church that can help you with your finances. I hope you like them.
